CPP® Product Development: 2″ Dry-Shut™ and IBC Ball Valve

12 December 2024CPP® Technical Guidance
CPP 2 inch Dry-Shut coupling product development Q4 2024

This article began as a Q4 2024 product update. Since then, both product areas have developed further, so the information below reflects the current CPP® catalogue rather than the original launch announcement.

2″ Dry-Shut™ valved couplings

CPP® developed the 2″ Dry-Shut™ system as a minimum-spill valved connection for industrial liquid transfer. The range now includes male and female valved couplings together with a growing family of adaptors and converters.

Current products use glass-filled polypropylene bodies with seal options including Viton®. The design follows the operating principle of ISO-A style valved couplings, allowing both halves to close as they disconnect and helping reduce product loss compared with an open coupling.

Adaptors and converters

The 2″ Dry-Shut™ range is supported by threaded and IBC adaptor options so the valved connection can be integrated into existing tanks, hoses and pipework. As with any transfer system, the final assembly is limited by its lowest-rated component.

Compact S60X6 secondary ball valve

CPP® also introduced a compact adaptor combining an S60X6 female swivel connection with a ¾″ BSPP male ball valve. It provides a small secondary shut-off point at the IBC outlet and can be useful where controlled dispensing is required.

Development continues after launch

New CPP® products are rarely treated as finished simply because the first production run has been released. Customer feedback, new mating connections and new application requirements often lead to additional adaptor options and refinements.
